Call It A Day

What this? A week with no post? Lame to the max. Between my cousin coming over and getting Season 1 of Carnivàle (Help me,I'm in desperate need for TV rehab ) from Netflix, it's been a pretty busy week.

I'm afraid I don't have anything really exciting to post, but with back to school shopping right around the corner, I should have some lovely things coming later in the week. Here's a sneak peak:

Dress from Ruche ( A shop I found on the always lovely Painfully Hip)

I fell in love with this dress and luckily I snatched it up right before it sold out!

Currently Watching: Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Ohmygoodness, the calligraphy part was just about mind blowing and super creative!

Ps: Another thing to add to the list of reasons I'm a dork. After all my many hours of watching Sesame Street with my 4 year old cousin, I thought I knew all there was to be known about the Sesame gang. Apparently not, because when I was showing someone this post they informed me that I got Cookie Monster's tag line (last post's title)completely wrong! Maybe I should stay away from complex shows like Sesame Street, and just stick to what I know best: trashy reality TV.

Have You Heard of My Religion?

I love religions. Each one is completely unique and beautiful. I've been fascinated by it since about forever and I just recently started to collect religious centered jewelry. I'm always on the look out for new pieces, so let me know if you have seen any neat pieces lately!

Saraswati Pendant (this one was hard to identify, I could be wrong)

Vintage Sunday School Bracelet With Ten Commandments

Buddha Pendant

Shiva Pendant

Tomorrow I leave for some grand camping in the woods with friends. I'm not really what you'd call a "nature fanatic", but I'm excited to go boating, snack on smores and play Uno till 1 AM. Not so much about the 2 minute showers, if I'm lucky. But I will totally be quoting the Brady Bunch (from the "A Camping We Will Go episode") And yes, I have memorized those episodes (it had 2 parts! Cause everyone knows that you can't explain that kind of plot line in just one measly 1/2 hour) Be back on Friday!

xoxo

Golden Calf

Currently (Re)Watching: Arrested Development, the one where Will Arnett's puppet, Franklin, testifies at the fake trial. I swear I am in love with that man. Him and Andy Samberg are totally my top 2 in people to hang out with if stranded on desert island (yes, I actually do have a list).

ps: I set up an email account for this blog! It's goldenxcalf@live.com Feel free to email me tips, tricks, questions, comments or just to chat cupcakes (or anything else cool, of course!).

Feathered Friends

I'm just gonna admit it, I love Katy Perry. I just do. No excuses. What I especially love about her is the AMAZING 1940's hair accessories she wears all over town. I have a feeling that stores are beginning to taking notice and soon these feathered hair clips will replace those Gossip Girl inspired bow headbands that are beginning to clutter up our closets. Enjoy!

Twists and Turns In Every Sort of Way!

Gah, San Francisco was a major fail. We literally turned right back around as soon as we got there, due to a family emergency. Oh well, those things happen. I'll just have to do a make up trip ASAP.
Normally, I try to stay away from posting my mom's work, just cause I think it's just kinda weird to, but this one was just too good to pass up!!! In case y'all don't know, she's an accessories designer known as Jamie Noel (<- link to her shop on etsy). She normally makes pins and stuff like that, which isn't my style, but this adorable headband is totally me.

It's made with silver wire and features 3 different acrobats. I got SO many compliments on it and it's basically part of my summer wardrobe now. Click here for more info about it.

And yes, that is my Gossip Girl inspired dress I'm wearing in that picture. I was a bit nervous about ordering it online, but it fit perfectly, as was surprisingly comfortable.

June 19 can't come fast enough.

Pretty Fly

Damn Fred Flare, why do you have to make so many adorable things for me to drool over? I could get my 60's stewardess on in this lovely frock. All I need is a pillbox hat and my handy refreshment cart.
Coffee or tea?

Roses Are Red...

WARNING: CONTAINS GOSSIP GIRL SPOILERS FROM LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE

"Florals are back"was obviously last night's message on GG ....or was it that Chuck Bass can't ever change (did you really expect him to just prance off to Europe with Blaire with absolutley no drama?)?

Of course I beelined for my computer and searched for some tamed down (and cheaper!) versions of their attire as soon as I heard the "xoxo" sign off. So here, my friends, is some flowered garb you can afford.

(The name says it all, sells any sort of flower hair acessory you can imagine)

(My favorite of all of these pieces, hopefully I can get it for my friends' graduation)

This One's For the Ladies

Check out this new(?) Flight of the Conchords video. Not only is it hilarious, but it also totally inspired me to embrace the whole 70's skating on the boardwalk vibe (another activity my 70's playboy pool party alter ego would do,lol).

What I would give to spray paint these gold, and cruise around my neighborhood.

Ch-ch-check them out here.

Currently Making: Birthday Cupcakes!

ps: Speaking of Flight of the Conchords, I got my friend the movie Eagle Vs. Shark for her bday. She loves FOTC, so I figured she'd adore it, but I've never seen the movie. If any of you kids have, is it good or not so much?

One of Those Nights

I've had a pretty stressful week (banquet, upcoming finals, job applications, etc.) so of course I was THRILLED when my aunt sent me this late birthday gift(aunt working at Ulta=best packages in the world). It was perfect because I LOVE baking (especially cupcakes) and who can resist a nice bath every now and then?)

It's basically a 2 in 1 bath fizzer. The "cake" part fizzes away in the bath, leaving the "frosting" as soap. And it has a candle on top, just for extra fun ( I made my sister sing Happy Birthday to me while I blew it out, just to make it legit).

Had the banquet last night. It went really well. I'll post more on that as soon as I get my friend to burn pictures of it.

Now stop reading this and go give your mother a hug! (like I'll be doing right...now)

ps: Really idiotic blog question...but what exactly is tagging? Is it just answering those questions or what? Don't mock me to harshly for asking, I'm kind of one of those people that have to look up any type of lingo or slang on urban dictionary. Lame, I know.

Gold Lions and Copy Cats

Yes,yes,yes,

I KNOW that this is just a blatant copy of that American Apparel swimsuit.
And yes, I KNOW that I already a one piece swimsuit.
And I KNOW that I may not be able to pull it off perfectly.
...
But I still love it/am buying it.

I'm sort of going for this look to be like 1970's pool party at a wealthy playboy's house. ...That may sound odd because I explained my "vision"to a friend and they just kind of stared at me for a second like they were considering whether or not she should pretend that she didn't hear that and continue our Miley Cyrus pictures conversation...
-Went dress shopping today. Bought an okay back up dress, but couldn't find anything that I really fell in love with. Also bought various other things that I have no need for, including a lovely bright green romper. Rompers are taking over, I swear.
I could probably blab on a bit more but I'm pretty tired from an eventful day. So goodnight and sweet dreams!
PS: My mom tried to take a picture of me with a ridiculous hat in Forever 21. A sales clerk RAN over and said that no photography was allowed in the store, just in case other designers saw it and tried to copy them. WHAT A JOKE!!! As much as I love Forever 21, they copy just about every designer out there and are currently being sued for it! And if someone really wanted to copy them, couldn't they just go to their website?
just my rant for the day!

It's Not Easy Being Green

A green post on St. Patrick's Day?!?

Yes, I'm feeling that original. To be honest, I didn't even wear green today and never got pinched...until I pointed my friends' mistake and then of course I was attacked with pinches. So to make up for my lack of green, I figured a green post should make up for it...and some irish soda bread (without raisins of course!)

A St. Patrick's Day classic. Of course, to get the full effect, you've got to watch all six (SIX!?! who gave them the funding after the first one?)

Hmm, maybe forget that soda bread. But sadly, I've never even tried Sprinkle's Cupcakes, even though I've heard that they're amazing. But after seeing these, I suppose I'll have to change that.

Well maybe I better lay off the cupcakes if I want to pull this off. I'm not a huge fan of the new Target Go International line, but there are some pieces I like, such as this.

Oh my goodness, I love kitchenware (even though it'll be a good few years till I'll need my own). Blame it on my Jamie Oliver obsession.

So have fun today, whether your idea of fun is getting hammered with green beer or watching just watching Flavor of Love reruns (my personal choice), have a great St. Patrick's day!!!
